Oyster Shell

Pacific Pearl Oyster Shell: Nature's Best Calcium

Pacific Pearl Oyster Shell is a natural organic source of very high quality calcium carbonate. The shells are a small and fragile variety deposited over thousands of years on the bottom of the San Francisco Bay. For more than a century, this unique resource has been utilized to supply calcium for horticultural applications.

Pacific Pearl Oyster Shell is harvested from waters in the San Francisco Bay Area by specially designed equipment and shipped by barge to Petaluma and Collinsville, California. The shell gets a thorough washing before entering the processing plant to remove sand and marine desposits. In the process, the shell is dried, crushed, screened to a desired size, and stored.

These ancient "Carpenter oyster" shells, no bigger than a thumbnail, are layered in limitless strata beneath bay waters.
